How Often Do People Masturbate?
Many of us frequently masturbate and enjoy doing so. At the same, being curious people, many might wonder how often do other people masturbate? So let’s take a look at the masturbation rate.
In the United States, 52% of people have stated that they masturbate weekly or more. This includes the 11% who claimed to masturbate on a daily frequency. While 28% of people masturbate on a monthly basis and 12% stated that they masturbate, but not regularly.
We took a closer look at those numbers and found that:
- 17% of male participants and 11% of female participants masturbate daily.
- 50% of male participants masturbate weekly, while only 32% of female participants do so.
- 22% of male participants and 35% of female participants masturbate at a monthly interval.
Masturbating is normal and having it as part of a routine can be a good thing for the individual.
Especially with the stress and trauma from the pandemic during the past 2 years, many people have claimed masturbation has helped them feel better. We asked if masturbation has helped them feel better or act as a form of self-care during quarantine, and 68% of people in the United States said yes; masturbation has become part of their self-care routine. There is a tie regarding how the rate of masturbation changed though, as 42% said that they actually masturbated more, while 42% claimed their masturbation rate remained the same as pre-pandemic.
What is the Global Masturbation Rate?
As you can see the graph above shows masturbation rates in the U.S., the U.K., Spain, France, and Germany.
It seems like more people from other countries tend to masturbate the same amount as before the pandemic.
- Germany has 51% of people claiming they masturbated around the same amount during the pandemic as they did before and only 37% claimed an increase in masturbation rate.
- In the U.K., 44% of the people stated their masturbation rate remained the same versus 40% saying it increased.
- While in Spain, 42% remained the same versus 38% increasing the rate.
- 41% of people in France stated that they masturbated the same amount and only 36% claimed there was an increase during this self-isolation period.
While there is a slight increase in the masturbation rate during the self-isolation period, how often did people from these countries masturbate?

Other Interesting Facts About The Masturbation Rate
According to our report:
- Around 49% of people that are married or in a relationship claimed to masturbate weekly or more, while 61% of people that are either single or dating masturbate weekly or more in the U.S.
- Nearly 26% of those that masturbate weekly or more are Millennials, and around 11% are Gen Z and Gen X taking up to around 17% in the U.S.
- In the U.K., around 28% of those that masturbate weekly or more are married or legally partnered. 12% are in a relationship, 13% are single, and lastly, 6% are single but dating.
- In Spain, married or legally partnered people have the highest percentage of those that masturbate weekly or more, at 59%.
